Short one for today. This blog also serves as a memory dump for me, otherwise I forget where I’m up to, family and work is always busy these days.
To progress the project, I need to create a cradle for either an N20 motor or a High Level Kits (HLK) motor. At the moment I’m exploring options for mounting both, although it’s looking increasingly likely that I’ll use the HLK motor. The N20 is a great little motor, but it’s difficult to source one in the UK with the right RPM and a right-angle drive output. From what I’ve seen, I’d need to use a worm gear on the motor output and a spur gear on the axle, which adds further reduction that I don’t really want.
A gearboxless motor like the HLK one I’ve bought should do the trick, but it does mean I’ll need to design both a worm gear and a spur gear in FreeCAD.
That’s it for now—more soon.
